The Building Centre
The Building Centre (TBC) was established in 1931 to promote innovation in the built environment. It is located on South Crescent, 26 Store Street in central London. It is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to, ‘…providing education, information and inspiration to all sectors of the built environment as well as the general public’.
The building is open to the public and is home to exhibitions, product showrooms, conference and debating facilities, an information centre, a café and meeting spaces; It also provides office space for a number of construction industry organisations such as:
- Better Buildings Partnership.
- British Woodworking Federation.
- Building Research Establishment.
- Construction Products Association.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
- Construction Youth Trust.
- Design for Homes.
- New London Architecture.
- Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.
- Construction Industry Council.
- Timber Trade Federation.
- UK Green Building Council.
As well as a number of commercial organisations.
The Building Centre Trust was established as an independent charitable organisation in 1963. It operates in part through a wholly-owned company, The Building Centre, with all activities and proceeds dedicated to providing support for educational, research and cultural activities connected with the built environment.
